Australian MP visied Tsitsernakaberd memorial.

Walt Secord, member of the Legislative Council of the parliament of the Australian state of New South Wales visited December 28 memorial to the victims of the Armenian Genocide – Tsitsernakaberd.
Accompanied with the member of the ARF Supreme Body, MP Ara Nranyan and responsible for political affairs of the Bureau Kiro Manoyan he put a wreath at the Eternal Fire and paid tribute to the memory of 1.5 million Armenians. Secord also toured in the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute. Deputy director of the museum Suren Manukyan presented to the guest the history of the greatest crime against humanity.
Secord also put a note in the Commemoration Book of the museum.
April 17 1997 the Legislative Council of the parliament of the Australian state of New South Wales condemned the massacres of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire describing it as first genocide of the 20th century and declared April 24 Day of Commemoration of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. They called upon the Australian parliament to take steps for the official recognition of the Genocide.
