Armenian vice-prime minister, territorial administration minister Armen Gevorgyan received today newly appointed ambassador of Kuwait Bassam Muhammad Alqabandi.
Congratulating the newly-appointed ambassador on taking the office, the vice-prime minister noted that Armenia is interested in deepening of commercial and economic cooperation with Kuwait, taking into consideration the presence of the friendly relations at a political level.
According to Mr. Gevorgyan, Kuwait is the first among the Persian Gulf States, the relations with which are getting a more coordinated nature: the first sitting of the Armenian-Kuwaiti intergovernmental commission was conducted in October in Yerevan, embassies are already working in the two countries, which is a new impetus for development of bilateral commercial and industrial relations. It was mentioned that certain steps have already been implemented after the first sitting of the commission. The delegation of the Armenian Development Agency lately visited Kuwait, which hold quite productive meetings with the Arab partners. Kuwaiti businessmen also visited Armenia for getting acquainted with the opportunities of mutual cooperation on place. Export of food from Armenia to Kuwait is considered a prospective direction. Cooperation in investments sphere was also pointed out.
The vice-prime minister expressed hope that during the second sitting of the intergovernmental commission concrete results will have been registered. He also expressed readiness on behalf of the government to support all the initiatives directed toward activation of mutual contacts.
In his turn, the ambassador noted that Kuwait attaches high significance to expansion of relations with Armenia, and especially, to development of commercial and economic ties. For this purpose the Kuwaiti party intends cooperation with both state and private sector. The diplomat assured that he will do his best for promoting expansion of bilateral relations.
