Nicolas Maduro wins election with 50.66%, Capriles has 49.07%
World
Nicolas Maduro is the new president of Venezuela. He won the general election with 50,66% of votes. The information was released by the president of the country's National Electoral Council Tibisay Lucena.
The oppositionist Henrique Capriles ranked 2-nd with of 49,07%. These figures may change, but not enough to revert the result, the officials say. That's because the anouncement considers the so called irreversible results when the number of votes still to count is less than the difference between the candidates.
The electoral process went quiet for most of the country known for very high levels of violence. However, at the end of voting that lasted from six in the morning until six in the evening some reports emerged of several cases of abuses in the voting sections, where uniformed groups of bikers arrived to block access of people in order to prevent them from voting.
Another incident also recorded at the end of the vote was a cyberattack against the government candidate Nicolas Maduro, whose profile on the Twitter and personal page were targeted by hackers.
