Chief of Police Vladimir Gasparyan signed a decree on Jan. 9 dismissing Police Colonel Norayr Muradkhanyan, the head of Yerevan police passport and visa department. Norayr Muradkhanyan was removed to the staff reserve list.

Police Colonel Hovhannes Kocharyan, deputy head of Police Academy, was appointed Head of Department by another decree signed on Jan. 9.

Norayr Muradkhanyan said that the Chief’s of Police decision was a surprise for him. Asked what he was going to do, Mr. Muradkhanyan said: “I’ll have a rest.”

Norayr Muradkhanyan was chairing the department since 2008.
