Armenia's emergency service worked hard during the New Year - more calls were served than in the previous corresponding period, Taguhi Stepanyan, Head of the Emergency Service CJSC, told journalists.
Overall, 5,708 calls were received on Jan 1-8, with 895 people taken to hospitals. In 513 cases children were served.
Also, nine death cases were registered with emergency doctors on the spot, and 52 cases before the doctors arrived.
With respect to the population's complaints, Stepanyan said that emergency doctors are unable to arrive within 7-12 minutes with 750 calls daily.
Some people call the emergency in such cases as toothache or headache.
The new emergency service stations opened in Yerevan's Avan and Nubarashen communities will facilitate the system's work, Stepanyan said.
