Former police chief Alik Sargsyan would ask the judge for Margar Ohanyan`s release if it weren't inappropriate.

Former police chief, current presidential advisor Alik Sargsyan says the precautionary measure for former Chief of Road Police Margar Ohanyan has to change and that he has to be released.

In an interview with Radio Liberty, the former police chief said if it weren't inappropriate, he would personally see the judge and ask for Margar Ohanyan's release.

"Ohanyan has served this country for 30 years. He made a mistake, but the damage has been recovered. It isn't worth sentencing him as a typical culprit. I think there is something immoral about this," Alik Sargsyan said.

Margar Ohanyan is charged with appropriating petrol.
