Psychologist Karine Nalchajyan explains the reason of post-holiday stress.

Any human organism commonly experiences stress unless it is lifeless, a psychologist has said.
At a news conference on Tuesday, Karine Nalchajyan, a PhD candidate of psychology, dwelled on the causes of post-holiday depressions, characterizing them as a weak form of stress.
“People are becoming increasingly anxious about this kind of stress. There’s no need to exaggerate the problem, as holidays are also necessary,” she said, adding that long celebrations create adaptation-related problems that can be overcome easily.
Nalchajyan noted that the New Year holidays, which have a short period, could cause a light stress as they change the normal routine style of life in a certain manner, creating tension.
“New Year celebrations in the Soviet period lasted a couple of days, and it was easy to overcome them, but now too, it is possible to gradually resume the working regime, trying to solve certain problems,” she added.
The expert further said that noise and firework have a negative impact, especially on the elderly and children.
As for the New Year diet, she said certain dishes may serve as antidepressants while others can have the contrary effect.
She further spoke of the social aspect of the problem, noting that people sometimes spend their last penny to celebrate the New Year, often being forced to pay off debts and make both ends meet after the holidays.
