French Senate to discuss Armenian genocide denial bill on January 23.

A bill penalizing genocide denials, in particular the Armenian Genocide denial, will be included in French Senate’s agenda in January.
The bill will be debated on January 23, Minister for relationship with Parliament Patrick Ollier told Le Figaro newspaper.
The Minister said “he feels there is a consensus on the issue.” Patrick Ollier also proposed to include the issue in the agenda of the January 16 meeting of Senate leaders.
The bill introduced by Valerie Boyer was adopted by French National Assembly on December 22.
On December 22 the lower chamber of the France's parliament adopted the bill penalizing genocides recognized by France. The bill envisages one year imprisonment and 45 thousand euros' fine in case of denial of genocides.
