Kuwait backs solidarity with Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

Kuwait is showing solidarity with the position of Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and wishes its speedy solution through political means, the Minister of Information and Youth of Kuwait, Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah Al-Humud said in an interview with Trend Information Agency.

"We wish a speedy settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the restoration of justice in this matter. Kuwait backs solidarity with Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," Al-Sabah said.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France and the U.S. are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions. With regard to cooperation between Kuwait and Azerbaijan, the minister said the cooperation between developing countries is on the rise and there is potential for further growth.

"Azerbaijan is a brotherly country and Kuwait will continue its efforts to strengthen the partnership in different directions," the Al- Sabah said.

The minister stressed the cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of culture and, in particular, holding the Days of Kuwait in Baku and the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Al-Kuwait.

According to Al-Sabah, the country's plan to implement a number of projects in the field of culture and education and mutual visits of officials of Kuwait and Azerbaijan as well as consultations are carried out periodically.

The Kuwaiti minister also expressed the hope and desire of his country to develop cooperation with Azerbaijan, noting that Kuwait's leadership will do whatever it takes to maintain fraternal relations between the two countries.
