MPs elected by majority system may be more useful for the population, MP from the Republican Party of Armenia Rafik Petrosyan told a news conference today.
He noted that the MPs elected via proportional system do not bear a responsibility in front of the people. "In our republic the political system is not strong, it has not developed yet. We can speak about passing to full proportional system after 65 parties unite and 3-4 parties be created," Petrosyan stressed. According to him, parliamentary and extra parliamentary opposition forces wish to pass to proportional system so that the 41 seats of majority system be distributed among them and their presence in the NA will increase.
The RPA MP believes the election system is of no significance, the main thing is conduction of fair and transparent elections, without any violations.
