Armenia’s president sends condolences to Soviet intelligence agent.

Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan has extended a letter of condolence to the family of the former Soviet Union intelligence agent Gevorg Vardanyan who passed away late on Tuesday.
According to a press release by the press service of Armenia’s presidential office, Sargsyan said in the letter the Vardanyan was a person who dedicated his whole life to service for the homeland.
Sargsyan also said that though living in Russia Gevorg Vardanyan was in touch with Armenia all through his life and helped during the Karabakh war with his intelligence knowledge and skills, contributing to the establishment of Armenia’s foreign intelligence service.
“I hold the warmest memories of the meetings and conversations with Gevorg Vardanyan,” Sargsyan said in the letter, adding that the memory of Vardanyan will remain in the hearts and minds of all those who have at least had a chance to meet him.
