RPA MP Karine Atchemyan gives importance to free and fair conduction of elections.
Political
It is of no significance whether parliamentary elections will pass in proportional or majority systems, the important thing is free and fair conduction of the elections, MP of the Republican Party of Armenia faction Karine Atchemyan told a news conference today.
She said there are two preconditions for the conduction of such elections. The first one is the amended Electoral Code and the political will in this issue. Karine Atchemyan convinced that the biggest wish of the RPA is not gathering many votes in these elections but conduction of free and fair elections.
The RPA is not concerned whether the elections will pass in a proportional or majority system.
Karine Atchemyan said the majority system must be maintained as the MPs elected through this system work closely with people.
Leader of the Social-Democratic (Hnchakyan) Party Lyudmila Sargsyan noted that such issue is not being discussed at the Armenian National Congress as the ANC's has a very big staff database. "It is not essential for us who will enter the NA," she said.
