Armenian opposition’s proposal to change toward proportional system is preparing grounds to justify its own defeat - Republican party MP.
Political
By demanding a change toward a 100-percent proportional election system, Armenia’s opposition is already attempting to justify its own defeat at the parliamentary elections to be held in May 2012, the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia MP Gagik Melikyan stated, during a press conference on Friday, calling those changes “an already-popped pre-election balloon.”
“There is little time left until the parliamentary elections, and bringing forth such demands and proposals, under such conditions, is nothing but populism. In this way the opposition is preparing grounds to justify its own defeat,” Melikyan noted.
The MP also added that this matter can be discussed at the threshold of the 2017 parliamentary elections.
