Kiev began negotiations with Turkey on the new routes for gas supplies. On this, as reports Interfax, said Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko.
According to him, planned to reach concrete agreements at the end of January.
Boyko said that Kiev is not satisfied with Russia’s policy, which tries to create an “excess transit capacity.” The Minister noted that Ukraine needs guarantees load transmission system: “The fundamental question to the pipe work.”
Russian gas shipped in transit through Ukraine to Turkey under two contracts – a 23-year agreement from 1998 and a 25-year agreement from 1986. Effect of the latter over the past year.
At the talks in late December, Russia and Turkey signed an annex to the agreement of 1998, according to which it will transfer the volumes prescribed in the contract in 1986 (6 billion cubic meters). The head of “Gazprom” Alexei Miller said that in terms of delivery will be made “certain additions,” but did not specify which ones.
In late November last year, also reported that Kiev reached an agreement with Turkey to begin negotiations on the passage of tankers of liquefied natural gas through the Bosporus Strait.
Ukraine meets its gas requirements through purchases and own production, the volume of which, as stated earlier Boyko, in 2012, will amount to 21 billion cubic meters. The main part of the purchased fuel supplies to Kiev “Gazprom”. For this year the price of Russian gas, as predicted in the “Naftohaz”, will be in the first quarter of 416 dollars, the second and third – 418 dollars in the fourth – 413 dollars per thousand cubic meters.
