A Norwegian acrobat performed over a long-span bridge over a gorge in Central China this past weekend.
Eskil Rønningsbakken performed a number of balancing acts on the Aizhai suspension bridge in Hunan province. The bridge has a main span of 1,176 metres and a maximum height of 330 metres.
Rønningsbakken also did tricks suspended from a hot air balloon near the bridge.
He said the performance was more difficult than usual because of the winds.
Eskil Rønningsbakken is an extreme artist from Stange, Norway. He travels the world performing balancing acts at the tops of lethal drops, such as canyons and cliffs.
At an early age Rønningsbakken saw footage of an Indian yogi balancing and decided to devote himself to the art. He joined the circus at the age of 18 and later improved his craft under the tutelage of Moscow State Circus trainer Peter Jakob. Rønningsbakken practices yoga, meditation, and breathing techniques to stay focused, and prepares extensively for each act.
