Arnold Stepanyan: "No one recognizes Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia’s economy is collapsing."

“The war can destroy not only Armenia, but the entire South Caucasian republics,” Head of "Multinational Georgia" organization Arnold Stepanyan told journalists, APA reports.

Stepanyan said that the Nagorno Karabakh will be solved sooner or later: “The economy of Armenia is gradually collapsing. How can be the future of the state whose economy is collapsing? Due to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Armenia has been isolated from the largest international projects implemented in the South Caucasus. The lack of jobs and weakening economy have led to the migration of population, especially of the youth people. ”

The migration in Armenia has already reached a record high. Therefore the soonest settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict can be beneficial for Armenia.”
Arnold Stepanyan commented on the efforts on opening Khojaly airport.

“It is not right to operate flights in this territory. In order to realize any project, its benefits should be thought about. They have not thought about it in Khakendi. Azerbaijan has repeatedly stated that if flights are operated at this airport, the aircrafts will be shot down. This can undermine stability not only in Nagorno Karabakh, but also in Armenia and South Caucasus. I should note that no one recognizes Nagorno Karabakh and the statements issued by the international organizations about Khojaly airport are right. I think first of all, contacts should be restored between the residents living in the conflict zones, it is necessary to establish good relations between them. Ordinary Armenian and Azerbaijani citizens should have mutual relations. Otherwise, the conflict will be protracted more and its solution will be delayed. The way of solution can be found quickly, if the relations are improved,” he said.
