Women feel sexier in the summer, according to a new study.
The research found that women feel more attractive and are much happier in the summer months.
And the sunshine evidently has a bigger positive effect on women than men, according to the British Summer Time Report.
Despite possible concerns about showing off their legs or losing weight to look good on the beach, two thirds of women (59 per cent) say they feel sexier in the summer.
In addition, 54 per cent insist they look their best in June, July and August and 83 per cent are happier then than at any other time of year.
While many of us will attest to feeling brighter in the summer, it seems women have a greater love affair with the summer months.
Psychologist Professor Cary Cooper, of Lancaster University, said: 'This effect is partly the opposite of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), which tends to affect more women than men in the winter.
'Good weather and natural sunlight gives you full spectrum light, which is important.
And 92 per cent of women say they 'love the summer'.
Part of the allure may be the opportunity to don clothes considered off limit the rest of the year. Almost half of British women - 39 per cent - confess to getting excited about summertime as soon as it's warm enough to 'get my summer wardrobe out'.
Meanwhile, 47 per cent feel their spirits pick up 'as soon as there's a glimpse of sunshine'. And 52 per cent admit they regularly cross the road to walk on the sunny side of the street.
The research revealed the lengths we go to to make the most of the increasingly brief British summers.
Nearly half of women - 41 per cent - have been so desperate to make the most of the sun they have sat outside getting goose pimples.
And one in seven women (15 per cent) wear summery clothes even when it's not sunny, rising to 21 per cent of 18-24 year olds.
This is clearly something which finds approval with British men, as 36 per cent say one of the best things about summer is women wearing bikinis in public.
