Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan urged rectors of universities and directors of schools to be strictly attentive so that no political propaganda is conducted in Armenian universities.
The minister, who is a member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, said at a press conference on Wednesday that any university rector, lecturer or student engaged in political activities during working hours or at the expense of classes would be punished. He did not elaborate on how exactly the punishment would be administered.
According to the Armenian Minister of Education and Science, there will be no propaganda or a political discussion inside universities and at the price of classes. "Outside universities they have a right to be a party member, to go to meetings, but never at the price of classes," said the Minister. Armen Ashotyan reminded that the good professional work is the best PR for the Republican Party of Armenia.
“One should not forget that classes are not transient, but elections are. This is my formula,” the education minister said.
