Venezuela starts election audit

Venezuela has begun the expanded audit of the disputed April election results, expected to end on June 4.
The National Electoral Council will check 350 poll boxes a day over the next month, until reaching a total of 10,500, according to the state-run Venezuelan News Agency.
The audit will be observed by members of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela, CNE officials, and students from the Venezuelan Central University, the news agency reported. No opposition members will take part in the audit.
Opposition leader Henrique Capriles called for the expanded audit after losing to President Nicolás Maduro by less than 225,000 votes, a margin of less than 2%.
Capriles claimed that there were irregularities during the vote.
