According to the data presented by the attorney, in 2011 death cases in RA Armed Forces decreased by 33 percent, while killings decreased by 80 percent. 36 death cases were registered in the army, 30 of which were result of crime. 3 died because of illnesses. 2 cases were connected with passing to the service.
To note, mothers of servicemen, who died in the army, picketed in front of the Presidential Residence in January last year. The President had talked to them and ensured that change of the Military Attorney General will set up fair investigation. In response to the question how the President’s orders are being implemented, Kostanyan said that all the cases are attentively examined, while some closed cases are resumed again.
“All measures are taken to assist the investigation,” he concluded.
As a whole, the Military Prosecution is ready to discuss any case publicly. However, it should be only on legal and not emotional level. People interested in the cases, mainly relatives of died servicemen, often ignore the legal instances preferring emotions, he added.
