Georgian population shrinks by 0.3 percent each year

As of January 1, 2013, the Georgian population hit 4.483 million people. This is by 0.3 percent or 14,000 less than in the same period of 2012, the Georgian Statistics Committee said today.
Some 52 percent of the population (2,345) fall to women, 48 percent (2.138 million) - men.
As of January 1, 2013, some 26.1 percent of the population lives in Tbilisi, 16 percent - in Imereti, 11 percent - in the Kvemo Kartli region, 11 percent - in Samegrelo - Zemo Svaneti, 9 percent - in Kakheti, 9 percent - in Adjara, 7 percent - in Shida Kartli region, etc.
The population growth by 0.1 percent was fixed in Adjara over the last year.
