Election frauds have no link with voting system – Republican MP Gagik Minasyan.

Adopting a 100% proportional representation system is not a method to combat election frauds, according to Gagik Minasyan, a member of the ruling Republican Party faction in parliament.
At a news conference on Friday, Minasyan noted that most democratic countries do not have a proportional voting system at all.
''The problem has nothing to do with democracy. The Republican Party of Armenia has always been in favor of increasing the proportional seats in parliament. But election frauds should not be underlying argument,'' he said.
Minasyan noted single-seat constituency voting could enable the parliament to ensure the representation of such lawmakers who come from regions and are well-aware of the existing problems there.
''The problem is easily resolved in countries that have two chambers, upper and lower. But reforms in the voting system will not bring about real changes, '' he said.
