Bill criminalizing the denial of Armenian Genocide has a 'formal' nature - French Senator.
World
French Senator Nathalie Goulet, who is known for her close ties with the Turks and the Azerbaijanis, informed that the French Senate will pass the bill that criminalizes the denial of genocides, including the Armenian Genocide.
In an interview with Dogan News Agency of Turkey, Nathalie Goulet noted that French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s party and the socialists are exerting great pressure on the senators so that the Senate passes this law proposal.
It is also noted that Goulet’s and several other senators’ suggestions, that this bill runs counter to the country’s constitution, will not have a bearing on its passing.
To note, on December 22, 2011 the French National Assembly passed the bill that criminalizes the denial of genocides, including the Armenian Genocide. And on January 23, it is expected to be put to a vote in the French Senate.
