Chicago Tribune - A 32-year-old man from suburban Chicago is recovering at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn after doctors removed a three-and-a-half inch nail from his brain.
Dante Autullo was in his workshop when he accidentally shot himself with a nail gun, but he thought the nail had missed his head. It may be noted here that the human brain lacks pain-sensitive nerves. That is why he didn’t feel the nail inside his head.
Surprisingly, he went to work next day. But later he rushed to the hospital after feeling nausea and headache.
He was surprised to see the X-ray that showed a nail was lodged in the middle of his brain.
After operation, Autullo said, “When they brought in the picture, I said to the doctor ‘Is this a joke?’ Did you get that out of the doctors joke file? The doctor said ‘No man, that's in your head’.”
Gail Glaenzer, Autullo’s fiancée, described the incident as ‘a miracle’.
Around a month earlier, an octogenarian man unbelievably survived after a pruning shears wedged in his eye socket.
