Arab League extends Syria mission for one more month.

The Arab League Sunday decided to extend its Syria mission for one more month but Saudi Arabia said it would end its participation in the effort.
The Arab League mission is tasked with getting Damascus to implement a plan to stem the violence against anti-government protesters demanding the ouster of President Bashar Assad.
Arab League foreign ministers meeting in Cairo Sunday heard from Gen. Mohammed ahmed Mustafa al-Dabi of Suday who is leading the mission. Al-Dabi said he is satisfied with the mission's progress and improved equipment and logistics, Day Press News reported.
Syria is expected to agree to the extension.
Al-Jazeera quoted sources as saying the number of observers would be increased from 165 to 300, with the addition of U.N. or military experts a possibility.
Saudi Arabia, however, said it would not participate in the extended mission because there has been little progress in stopping violence against protesters, the BBC reported.
Violence continued Sunday. Two Syrian military officers were killed and three others were injured in a shooting attack on a convoy outside Damascus, state media reported.
The apparent ambush was part of a particularly bloody weekend in which a bus hit a mine Saturday, killing at least 16 people and injuring 26 others, the official Syrian Arab News Agency said.
Also, the opposition Local Coordination Committees of Syria reported 59 corpses had been found throughout the country Saturday, CNN reported.
The government has allowed few foreign journalists into the country since politically driven violence erupted in mid-March.
Various estimates by the United Nations and rights groups say at least 6,000 people have been killed in the fighting.
