10% of Germans want "Führer" back
Աշխարհ
The longing for a strong hand is still common among Germans. According to a social study conducted by the Friedrich Ebert foundation for political education (FES), one in ten Germans see dictatorship as the best option for the country.
The FES poll, aimed at revealing ultra-right feeling among Germans, surveyed 2,400 citizens aged 14 to 90.
10% of respondents said that Germany needs a strong leader, a Führer who can govern with a strong hand. They believed that dictatorship was the preferred form of government.
The results were even more worrying regarding the nationalistic feelings of the Germans.
More than 30% agreed with the statement "foreigners come to abuse the welfare state," and even more (31.7%) suggested that in a limited job market foreigners should be sent back home.
Xenophobic attitudes toward Muslim immigrants turned out to be especially strong. Over 58% said the religious freedom of Muslims in Germany should be limited.
