Impounded motor-ship Russian crew live in misery in China
Russia
The eight Russian seamen, - the crew of the impounded Prok motor-ship, are living in misery at China’s Jinjiang seaport.
They’ve been paid no wages for several months now.
There is no electric power or water aboard the ship. China has impounded the vessel urging that it be paid for port-staying and the services rendered, Interfax reports.
The abandoned motor-ship has the same owner as the Veles ship, whose crew also lived in misery in a similar situation in the Philippines earlier this year.
A Vladivostok court took into custody two Russian citizens, involved in a criminal case concerning the use of slave labour of the VelesRussian seamen.
The Veles ship with a Russian crew of 13 on board was impounded at the Rio Tuba Filipino seaport as of January 2013.
The crew had to suffer food and water shortages and live in insanitary conditions. It was not until April that 10 Russians and one Ukrainian crewmember were able to return home.
