Armenia’s Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan received Wednesday the newly appointed British Ambassador Ms. Catherine Jane Leach, and they looked into the British Council’s education programs in Armenia.
Armen Ashotyan wished the Ambassador a productive work, and expressed a hope that the Armenian-British relations would further develop in the education sphere, the Education and Science Ministry informed.
Introducing Armenia’s education reforms, the Minister noted that the country has assumed the 2012-2015 Secretariat of the Bologna Process, and at the same time it proposed to the British Council to have an active involvement in these activities.
Armen Ashotyan also underscored the designing of new bilateral cooperation programs to conduct intensive English-language training in Armenia’s high schools.
In her turn, Ambassador Leach noted that the British side is prepared to continue the current projects and to discuss the joint future ones.
The interlocutors also stated that Armenia’s public schools are actively participating in the British Council’s events devoted to the 200th anniversary of Charles Dickens.
The parties also examined the matter of developing the competencies and skills of Armenia’s English-language instructors.
