Demonstrations end in Moscow.
Russia
The Central Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation has declared that 14.5 thousand citizens participated in the march and rally "For Fair Elections" and 56,000 citizens participated in the pro-government demonstration called "We Have Nothing To Lose".
"Novaya Gazeta" has expressed discontent with the figures presented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and has assured that more than 40,000 people participated in the opposition's action.
The newspaper's correspondent says that is the figure according to the metal detector. Forty thousand people passed "under the sword" to participate in the opposition's rally and the march.
The Ministry informed that the protests were held without any provocations. According to Interfax, during the march held with the "Yakimanka", some strangers threw smoked cartridges among the oppositionists and lit torches. According to the source, the police didn't pay any attention to them.
RIA Novosti reports that the police arrested those who applied the smoked cartridges.
"They intended to provoke the oppositionists," as stated in the text of the declaration of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In addition, the police arrested a group of Socialists that got mixed with the opposition members and distributed flyers reading "For Fair Elections, For Putin".
The rallies organized by the Liberal Democrats and "Yabloko" ended sooner than expected and there were no incidents registered during the action.
The "most figurative" rally was the one organized by Putin's supporters. It almost turned into a show with a star-studded line-up, food and drinks. People not only resisted the cold, but also ate, drank and listened to the music.
The next rallies will be held on February 25.
