Prior to presidential elections day of silence declared in Russia.

Prior to March 4 presidential elections Russia entered into the so-called ‘day of silence.’ Today any kind of election propaganda is prohibited, “Gazeta.ru” reported.
The ‘day of silence’ is aimed to give a voter an opportunity to make a final decision on his choice of a future president without being pressured by any election propaganda.
Ria Novosti reports the post of president, who this year will be elected for a term of six years for the first time, is being fought over by the following candidates: current Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov, Head of the Liberal Democratic Party Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Sergei Mironov from A Just Russia, and independent candidate Mikhail Prokhorov.
