On March 16, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received Bulgarian film director, chronicler of the Artsakh liberation struggle Tsvetana Paskaleva and Director of the Armenian Music Center Samvel Amiraghyan.
The guests told about the presentations of their films devoted to the Artsakh in Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Lebanon. The guests were very impressed with the reception of Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia and not only because the Supreme Patriarch had awarded the Mesrop Mashtots Medal.
The presentation was also brilliantly held in Tsvetana’s homeland, Bulgaria. It should be mentioned that the presentation of the films devoted to the Artsakh battle sparked many reactions on March 3, which is the day of the liberation of the Bulgarians from Turkish dominance.
Tsvetana Paskaleva has experienced everything during the war and has been injured twice. She has also been able to break the information blockade against Artsakh as an international journalist.
Since May 1991, she has shot 7 documentaries about Nagorno-Karabakh, including “Heights, Hopes” (1991), “Will the sun rise in Karabakh?” (1992), “My Precious Survivors and Deceased” (1993), “Wounds of Karabakh” (1994), “Soldiers of their Land” (1994), “Silence” (1995), “Faith and Spirit” about the seizure of Shushi (2001). The films have been released in six languages, including Armenian, Russian, English, French, Spanish and Bulgarian.
Bulgarian film director Tsvetana Paskaleva has been granted the annual AGBU Garbis Papazian Award “For her courage to provide truthful and complete coverage of the Artaskh-Armenians’ struggle, as well as her unconditional devotion to Armenia”.
The gathered discussed the potential directions for cooperation with the RA Ministry of Diaspora and the presentation of the film series to the international communities. According to them, the film series serves as a document of the Karabakh war prepared by the Bulgarian film director.
