Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan, who is also the leader of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), is in Syunik region on the sidelines of pre-electoral campaign.
The RPA leader first met with the residents of Agarak town. “You are the supporters of our state. A country that has a community like Agarak is strong having such honest and modest people who defended own independence and freedom. You are one of the proofs of our revival. You have passed through a chaos of difficulties,” Serzh Sargsyan said, addressing to the residents of Agarak.
The President stressed that though mine-industry is the most developed sphere in the town and the economy there is quite developed, it is not the final result yet.
“We have perspectives and a concept to develop the production opportunities. The only way to solve the issue is work. We all know that our country has not spare any means for the development of Armenia’s remote communities. Agarak is a clear example of it,” Serzh Sargsyan stressed.
In his speech the President noted that the Republican party knows the issues of all the sectors of the country and noted that the biggest issue in Agarak is the environment protection issue. The president convinced that steps are being taken for the solution of this issue.
“World and European experience will be applied. All the standards will be ensured for nature protection,” Serzh Sargsyan said.
Addressing to people of Agarak, President called on them to back the ruling Republican Party and majority candidate Vahe Hakobyan nominated by the RPA. Hakobyan is son of the director of Kajaran’s copper-molybdenum plant Maxim Hakobyan.
In Syunik Serzh Sargsyan was accompanied by governor Surik Khachatryan, Maxim Hakobyan, vice premier Armen Gevorgyan and others.
Parliamentary election in Armenia is scheduled for May 6. Eight political parties and Armenian National Congress opposition alliance are running for the election.
