Georgia’s parliament not to recognize Armenian Genocide soon - expert.

Georgia’s parliament will not recognize the Armenian Genocide in the near future.
The reason is the Turkish factor, which is gaining strength in Georgia, Alik Eroyants, an expert in Georgian studies, told journalists on Tuesday.
Gevond Mkrtchyan, an expert in Javakhk (a Georgian region with a dense Armenian population), noted that Armenia’s leadership has its share of the blame.
“Transit and national minorities are the basis of Armenian-Georgian relations now. Armenia is not interfering in Javakhk problems. That is the Armenian authorities exchanged the Armenian population’s rights for transit,” Mkrtchyan said.
Turkey and Azerbaijan are Georgia’s major partners, which is the reason for that nation to allow the Azeri-Turkish factor to gain strength there, Eroyants said.
Mkrtchyan stressed that this is the reason why the issue of Armenian Genocide is not being raised in Javakhk despite active public discussions and desire for that.
The present political situation in Georgia does not allow a brave decision to be made, namely, raising the issue of the Armenian Genocide, the expert said.
