Constitutional Court continues the discussion over the opposition appeal.

The opposition alliance’s call for revising the parliamentary election results is based on conclusions rather than facts, according to Tigran Mukuchyan, the chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC).
In an hour and a half long speech at the Constitutional Court’s Tuesday hearing, Tigran Mukuchyan presented several counterarguments to prove his position.
He said the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) had proxies in 73% of the polling stations, adding that the Commission had received only 12 calls for a vote recount (with four being submitted by ANC representatives). Mukuchyan noted that the alliance could have complained to the CEC about election frauds but failed to do so.
As for the ANC’s allegations that President Serzh Sargsyan breached a constitutional norm by participating in the ruling Republican Party’s electoral campaign while on an official visit, Mukuchyan said the Constitution contains no such restrictive provision.
Speaking at the Court’s previous hearing, the CEC chairman had called for dismissing the case, but the court rejected his motion.
