Lieutenant Colonel of MoD Tried to Blow up Harsnaqar Restaurant

Today, on July 1 at about 2.15 am the director of Harsnaqar restaurant Hrachya Zohrabyan reported to Nor Nork Police Department, that a citizen tried to enter the restaurant threatening to blow it up.
As photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan reports, with the head of Chief of Police Artak Karapetyan and a police official Valeri Baghyan the officers of Nor Nork Police Department and Avan sub-department arrived at Harsnaqar restaurant.
The police operative-investigation group negotiated with the citizen for about three hours, as a result of which they managed to disarm and take him to Nor Nork Police Department.
The operational group of Avan police sub-department with the head of Henrik Nersisyan was also present.
Mateials are being prepared over the case in Criminal Investigation Department.
Based on the information provided by Gagik Shamshyan the citizen who tried to blow up Harsnaqar restaurant is lieutenant colonel of the Armed Forces of RA 39 year-old Vardan Samvelyan. His father is police colonel Samvel Samvelyan working in criminal department of the police, and brother Arman Samvelyan is a police agent.
Vardan Samvelyan entered the restaurant in a military uniform and threatened to detonate explosives.
Note, yesterday on June 30 a candle-lighting ceremony was held in front of the restaurant, where a few hundreds of citizens took part. Later, it turned into a protest action because of a wedding held in the restaurant.
On June 17 in Harsnaqar restaurant that belongs to MP of NA Ruben Hayrapetyan the security workers severely beat micro surgeon of the neuro-surgery department Artak Bayadyan, clinical ordinator senior lieutenant Garik Soghomonyan and chief of the ENT Department at Yerevan’s Garrison Hospital major Vahe Avetyan, whose health state was extremely severe for about a fortnight. At about 7 pm on June 29 he died.
