The head of the delegation and the members visited the Genocide Museum, got familiarized with the documents confirming the Armenian Genocide: Valentina Matvienko made a note in the memorial of guests of honor. RF Federal Assembly Federation Council Speaker and members of the delegation, as a memory, photographed in the "Memory Park" by the evergreen fir that was planted by Mrs. Matvienko years ago.
In the interview with journalists Valentina Matvienko mentioned: "The Genocide in the Ottoman Empire is the greatest crime against entire humanity: Russia has given such a qualification to that crime back in 1915 .
This is the tragic page of the history of the Armenian nation- one of the oldest Christian nations. Millions of innocent people were killed. Russia gave a shelter to thousands of Armenians, helped Aremenia.
I think that we mustn’t forget such a crime, no matter how many years and centuries pass, so they won’t be repeated. Crimes against humanity should be given the assessments and evaluations they deserve, especially nowadays, when there is inclination to falsify and distort the history. It’s impermissible. Genocide is Genocide. It is necessary to keep the memory of the victims of the Genocide bright . And it’s necessary to pay tribute to Armenia and the Armenian people that have built this memorial to commemorate the victims of the Armenian Genocide. As long as the tragedy is remembered, as long as the memory of the victims remains bright, I'm sure t such tragedies won’t be repeated again.”
