Le Monde Periodical Referred to the RNK Presidential Elections

"The citizens of Nagorno-Karabakh in the conditions of ceasefire are electing their new president on July 19, which, according to some analysts, can cause a new conflict in the territory of Caucasus,” writes Le Monde.
Nagorno-Karabakh declared its independence in 1992, in a military situation. So far Armenia and Azerbaijan can’t come to agreement over the status of the area.
"Shots are regularly heard on the border, because of which a sharp increase in such incidents is observed recently,” the periodical reads. “In the country, which has a population of 145, 99 thousand voters are registered. International recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh its safety and the welfare of the population are the postulates of the pre-election programs of the candidates nominated in the presidential elections- currents president Bako Sahakyan and retires General VItali Balasanyan.
According to analysts, the current President of the RNK, Bako Sahakyan’s the victory did not cause any doubt, as he had the support of the 3 parties represented in RNK NA. The 51-year-old Sahakyan promised the voters to continue the economic and social reforms, and assured the voters, that all resources under his disposal will be invested in order to prevent any Azeri encroachment of restoring the control over Nagorno-Karabakh. Baku recognized the RNK elections as non-regime,” the periodical reads.
