Russian border guards should be immediately withdrawn from the territory of Armenia: Zhirayr Sefilyan
General News
It seems like only a part of subservient and incapable Armenian elite, given to the outpost policy serving the interests of foreign powers, their service experts and representatives of media are, in fact, aware of the conditions, composition, structure and issues of foreign, in this case Russian military presence.
The presence consists of 102nd military unit of Russian Armed Forces, as well as the military units of the frontier troops of Russia's Federal Security Service, not having any connection with the 102nd military unit. The Russian military unit and frontier guards serve completely different issues.
The military unit is a part of the Armed Forces, and is meant to ensure our military security with Armenian Armed Forces, parallel to realizing Russian strategic interests within the frames of military and political alliance with Russia. Of our course, the fact, that some of the expenses for the maintenance of that military unit are taken care of by RA, or that the potential of their land subdivisions is symbolic and their presence- non-desirable and a little hazardous for the sovereignty of RA doesn’t coincide with our interests. Russian military presence in the forms of AAD and aviation, on placement conditions of international practice, is acceptable to us.
But we cannot tolerate the fact that Russia's Federal Security Service frontier army, being resident subdivisions of special services of a foreign country, not only legally and uncontrollably operate in the territory of Armenia, but also control with a status of monopoly, Iranian and Turkish borders with the Republic of Armenia and the air transport.
Such explicit colonial dependence on a foreigner and the latter’s complete control over our home should be terminated as soon as possible. Russian border guards should be immediately withdrawn from the territory of Armenia and the boarder protection must be given to Armenian border guards.
