Irates de facto: Opposition alliance to propose its own presidential runner
Armenian Press
The opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) is going to nominate its own candidate of presidency next year, the paper has learned.
Citing its sources, it says that the overwhelming majority of the alliance’s members support the plan, finding collaboration with another political force pointless. They are reportedly inclined to propose the first president and the ANC leader, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, in an attempt to prevent a possible fuss. But the paper says, citing its source, that no one in the opposition alliance is aware of the future candidate or the format of participating in the 2013 polls as Ter-Petrosyan is said to be hesitant about running for president. His meditations will reportedly end after the stakeholders on the political arena clearly express views. But the delay is not linked only with that, says the paper, claiming that the plan has to be ok’ed by foreign powers.
