Approval of aid package to Ukraine unlikely before year-end — US Congressman

 Republican Mike Turner (R-Ohio), the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee of the US Congress, considers approval of an aid package to Ukraine unlikely before the end of the year. "I think it would be very difficult to get it done by the end of the year and the impediment, currently, is the White House policy on the southern border <…>. Congress is going to require that there’ll be laws [changing] to make certain that the border returns to its prior state <…> that would secure the southern border," Turner said in an interview with NBC News TV channel. Bloomberg said earlier citing lawmakers that Ukraine might not receive new US aid until the middle of December and maybe longer. With the battlefield settling into a stalemate support for Ukraine is showing cracks, the agency said. The White House had proposed last month a roughly $106 bln national security supplemental funding request that included money for Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan as well as humanitarian aid and border security measures.
