Russia stands for political-diplomatic settlement of all disputed issues between Azerbaijan and Armenia: Nastasin
BlogosphereThe representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Andrey Nastasin, responded to the journalist's question at the weekly briefing: how does Moscow treat the strengthening of the Azerbaijani army, considering that the Russian and Azerbaijani sides criticize Armenia for cooperation with different countries in the defense sector?
The official once again stated that the goal of the West is to destroy the connections established in the South Caucasus and to carry out anti-Russian actions. "They are trying to interfere with our relations with partners in the region, and special attention is paid to the issue of security," said the representative of the Foreign Ministry.
Andrey Nastasin once again asserted that "Russia is in favor of the political-diplomatic settlement of all controversial issues between Azerbaijan and Armenia. "To avoid escalation, we call on Baku and Yerevan to avoid belligerent rhetoric and focus on finding mutually acceptable solutions that will promote prosperity in the South Caucasus."
He emphasized that in that context, the trilateral agreements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia have no alternative.
Referring to the issue of refugees and the destruction and usurpation of Armenian historical and cultural heritage by Azerbaijan, Nastasin reiterated that Moscow consistently advocates for the establishment of stable peace between Baku and Yerevan. "This is exactly what the complex of trilateral agreements is aimed at. It also envisages a step-by-step solution to social and humanitarian issues," the Russian official emphasized.
Nastasin refused to answer the question about the Turkish president's latest statement that "Turkey can "enter" Israel in the same way it entered Karabakh and Libya." He advised to address this question to Ankara, at the same time noting that it was with the efforts of Russia that it was possible to stop the 44-day war and prevent the escalation of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh in 2023.
