First Russian-Georgian school of journalism opens in Tbilisi

The first Russian-Georgian school of journalism has been opened in Tbilisi. During the week, leading Russian mass media representatives - RIA Novosti news agency, Mayak radio, Russian Reporter magazine, Moscow News newspaper, Vestnik Kavkaza (Caucasus Herald) information-analytical portal will conduct training sessions and workshops for their Georgian counterparts on the use of new information technologies and creation of multimedia content.

MGIMO and Moscow State University specialists along with Georgian experts will give a joint lecture on current trends and development prospects of regional mass-media and present their vision for the future of the South Caucasus within a roundtable discussion on 'The South.

Conditions of an essay competition will be announced on the final day of the course to choose the best journalists from the South Caucasus, including from Georgia, for participation in a regional school for young journalists of the South Caucasus in Sochi in late 2013.

At the end of the Russian-Georgian school of journalism week, participants will be awarded special certificates.
School organisers are the North-South Russian Political Studies Centre and the Caucasian cooperation non-commercial partnership.
