New gray cardinal of Kremlin
Russia
"Allow me to present the man, whose power in the government of the Russian Federation is increasing rapidly," writes in an article in The Atlantic, Radio of Free Europe analyst Brian Whitmore.
This is Yevgeni Shkolov, Vladimir Putin's KGB colleague, the person that keeps the whole Kremlin compromising.
In 2008, when Putin decided to detain the alleged crime boss Semyon Mogilevich, he instructed neither the police, nor the FSB, but the Office of the economic security of the Interior Ministry, which was led by Shkolov.
According to the author, Shkolov and Putin are KGB colleagues, they worked together in Dresden in the 80's. Putin is now increasingly began to impose on Shkolov delicate tasks.
In May, Shkolov was officially appointed as an adviser of the President in charge of human resources policy. He just got a new job - to investigate illegal financial operations of Russian officials.
Yevgeniy Shkolov is not just Putin's department of human resources, but also he keeps Kremlin compromising, the journalist writes.
"Consequently, it is the most important Russian official, of which you probably never heard," he added. It's true, the website rumafia.com already introduced readers his personality, where he was described as "a new gray cardinal of the Kremlin."
To judge by the experience of the past, to fight against corruption will be selective, choosing those who angered Kremlin, the author of the article suspects. The only goal of the campaign is the influence and control at a time when Putin desperately struggles to regain power over the restless elite. Whatever it was, Shkolov receives immense power in Kremlin", Whitmore concluded.
