5 years ago today. 2008, 2013. Post-election Armenia
Interviews
5 years ago on this day, the first President of Armenia, who lost in 2008 presidential elections according to official data, Levon Ter-Petrosyan held a rally at Liberty Square in Yerevan.
The same day, in response to the non-stop rally of Levon Ter-Petrosyan, the disputed results of the presidential elections, the government has decided to conduct a similar event of officially the winner in the election of Serzh Sargsyan at the Republic Square. People who were taken there by force, left the event and went to the rally at Liberty Square.
5 years later the square is again crowded. Leader of the "Heritage" party, who lost according to official data of CEC, presidential candidate Raffi Hovannisyan does not accept the published data of the CEC, characterizes the elections as fraudulent and organizes rallies in the capital and in the regions of Armenia.
Lurer.com spoke with an expert on political and electoral technologies Armen Badalyan, who noted that today neither Levon Ter-Petrosyan nor Raffi Hovannisian achieve anything in law, because in both cases, the CEC recognized the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
"In 2008 the loser was Levon Ter-Petrosyan, in 2013- Raffi Hovannisyan. It's another question that Levon Ter-Petrosyan during the 5 years created "Armenian National Congress", which, despite the fact that today stands on the threshold of collapse, but, nevertheless, decided to set timely task for him. What will Raffi Hovannisyan intend to do at this point, will be seen in the future," Badalyan said.
According to the latter, both in 2008 and 2013 the society showed that as 5 years ago, and still today, it told "no" Serzh Sargsyan.
"One of the differences of these years is the fact that in 2008 there was a certain clarity, which is not now. It seems that today's movement is controlled. I can not say exactly who controls the movement, but it is clear that this is a controlled movement. Perhaps this is an impression of present, possibly in two weeks it will be clear that this is not so. "
