Exhibition dedicated to Tsar Ivan III opens in Moscow
Science and culture
An exhibition dedicated to Tsar Ivan the Third (1440-1505), who united territories around Moscow, has opened in the Moscow Kremlin.
Director of the Kremlin museum Elena Gagarina said that during the rule of Ivan III Russia was subjected to Western European influence and this was reflected in the articles of daily use, architecture and culture.
The oldest item on display is a gold coin minted in the early years of the Tsar’s rule. It resembles a Hungarian coin ducat. It features Hungarian King Vladislav, and the inscription around it calls Ivan III the Great Prince of Russia for the first time.
