Hillary Clinton, the former US Secretary of State, made her second appearance in public on Tuesday, when she attended Vital Voices’ Global Leadership Award Ceremony dedicated to leaders from around the world who continue to fight for women’s rights. The event also drew attention of western mass media for a group of people who came to the Kennedy Center in Washington, where the ceremony took place, to urge Clinton to run for president in 2016, ABC News reports.
The Vital Voices’ Global Leadership was originally called the Vital Voices Democracy Initiative. It was founded by Clinton as first lady in 1997 with then-Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
During her 12-minute speech Clinton said as cited by mass media that today a map of the world shows “too many countries where women still face violence and abuse, too many political systems that treat women like second class or even worse.”
Mass media note no hints were made during the ceremony to find out Clinton’s future ambitions. Meanwhile a group of 30 people gathered in front of the Kennedy Center to encourage Clinton to run for president in 2016. They held signs with “Ready for Hillary” imprinted on them.
Hillary Clinton left her post as the US Secretary of State at the end of January.
