Spain orders extradition of suspected Georgian mafia boss.

Spanish authorities on Thursday ordered the extradition of a suspected Georgian mafia boss who was captured in an international sweep in 2010.

Kakhaber Shushanashvili, 39, will be sent to Georgia following a request from that country in 2011, a Spanish national court said in its order.

Shushanashvili was arrested as part of an international operation that led to the arrests of dozens of suspected Russian-Georgian mafia figures.

Shushanashvili's brother, Lasha Shushanashvili, is the suspected head of the criminal network. He escaped arrest.

But Zakhar Kalashov, a Russian mafia boss in Spain, was arrested in the operation and sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for money laundering. He would then be extradited to Georgia.

Spanish authorities say the highly organised criminal network is mainly responsible for threats, extortions, money laundering and forgery, expatica.com informed.
