Civil disobedience actions underway in Yerevan (live)
ՀասարակությունActions of civil disobedience are starting in Yerevan and throughout Armenia Friday morning.
Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, Primate of the Diocese of Tavush of the Armenian Apostolic Church, had made such a call during the rally at Republic Square, the heart of Yerevan, Thursday evening.
Later, Archbishop Galstanyan went to hotel with a number of opposition MPs to have a discussion. And a short time later they left the hotel.
At least one-third of the total number of MPs can submit a draft resolution to the National Assembly of Armenia on expressing no confidence in the Prime Minister only if the draft resolution proposes a candidate for the new Prime Minister.
A large number of police are at Republic Square.
On May 4, the Tavush for the Motherland movement had started a march, led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, from Kirants border village of Tavush Province to Yerevan, and this march reached the Armenian capital Thursday. Those who have joined this movement are against the Armenian authorities’ policy of unilateral concessions to Azerbaijan.
